WALKING LECTURE ON ANTS
Get in touch with your inner insect and take a walk with your nose close to the ground…
Performing arts meets brain- and ants scienCE: An ant experience with talks, walkS, sensory input, taste experiences and soundscapes.
With our Walking Lecture on Ants, you will learn about the ants and their fascinating world. Some of the questions we examine are how their social structures operate, compared to ours. We also explore how their world sounds, smells and tastes. All in a unique blend of performing arts, walking and lecturing elements.
“Lovely sensory tour with both exciting insight into a hidden world and humorous parallels to our own.Jesper – Guest book
”Fantastic presentation in a different way – also interesting for a professional biologist.”Preben Clause – Institute of Bioscience – Guest book
Did you know that ants use solar panels, can carry out a coup d’état, and can grow as old as human beings? Together with ant scientist Hans Joachim Offenberg and brain researcher & anthropologist Andreas Roepstorff, Secret Hotel’s Christine Fentz with Betina Birkjær create a unique walking lecture about one of the tiniest, oldest creatures on Earth – the ant.
The performance was presented during Little Rebellions, a part of 2017 Aarhus Capital City of Culture’s programme and as part of Folkeuniversitetets Hearts & Minds Festival.
Walking Lecture on Ants has been presented on Alive Festival/Thy (2022), Momentum (2021), CPH STAGE (2018), and in Aarhus in the Botanical Garden, Aarhus (2018).
