Secret Hotel is an interdisciplinary production unit which focuses on expanding the notion of performing arts, and developing interactive work, which challenges the relation to the spectator and stimulate all senses.

Pleasantly akward and surprising meetings 1:1

Secret Hotel produces own works, and has organised residencies, workshops, exchanges, guest plays and productions and fascilitated collaborations between various artists.

Secret Hotel is devised from the idea of a hotel/group that can host many different guests/artists and hold a wide range of activities and projects. Secret Hotel is defined as a diverse production unit which emphasises dialogue, exchange and projects of an interdisciplinary and cross-cultural nature. A spacious hotel with many rooms.

Secret Hotel was founded in 1999 by Christine Fentz and Synne Behrndt, and  is based in Aarhus, where it has an office space at The Cultural House Aarhus. The artistic director is since 2006 Christine Fentz.

All projects are devised and produced according to the artistic directors’ current passions, interests, research, etc. We do therefore not dictate or adhere to a set aesthetic or thematic exploration in our projects, which in turn makes the production unit’s practice ever changing and flexible. Our criteria for all projects maintain that they must be of an exploratory nature, whether it be events, exhibitions, performance, music theatre, site specific events, workshops, etc.

The present board counts Synne Behrndt, Kamma Siegumfeldt, Kjetil Sandvik, Helle Trap-Friis og Pernille Møller Taasinge.
Former board members are Steen Madsen, Hanne Svejstrup, Jóna Ingolfsdóttir, Erik Petersen, Thomas Wiesner, Jesper Lützhøft.
